GTX 1660ti mobile or RTX 2060 mobile for VR gaming?

I had to sell my desktop a while ago and am on an older laptop now. I'm planning to upgrade to something that works a bit more reliably, but with the price of desktop GPUs it makes more sense to stick with a laptop. I really don't game all that much but I'd like the capability to, and my budget is about $1,200CAD. I'd prefer to stick with the Lenovo Legion line because I trust them to be decent computers and have the GTX 1660Ti and RTX 2060 as their lower cost chips that are in my budget.
The most important thing is that they be capable of playing VR games at minimum settings smoothly. Is the GTX 1660ti Mobile capable of that or would I have to look at the 2060 and above? The computers are all about the same price but I can come across better deals or get lucky on ebay. I have a spare 1tb m.2 ssd and 2.5" hdd I can pop into it, and although I'd like to avoid it I could upgrade the ram later if it only comes with 8gb. My old desktop had a RX 590 and that's about the level i'd be aiming for

I should add that part of my confusion is that when researching the chips, most results are referring to the DESKTOP versions of the chips - which are obviously more powerful so if they claim they are VR ready it doesn't confirm if the mobile version is vr ready
