Is it reccommended using the Game Mode feature?
The list given in the linked page mentions a 32GB drive but experience for me has shown that 64GB is a better minimum for the latest couple four Version Upgrades of Win10, not enough room. I have 2 nice light small Notebooks that can't run Win10 on 32GB but do quite well with Linux Mint needing only a third of that space, has kept the Notebooks out of the landfill as the 'drives' are not changeable.
Windows 10 Minimum System Requirements
- Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster compatible processor or System on a Chip (SoC)
- RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit
- Hard disk space: 32 GB or larger
- Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver
- Display: 800x600 screen resolution
I just leave "Game Mode" on permanently, that is the Default. No reason not to, however you will not notice any difference.
I still get a rare unrelated notification with some games, so it helps, but is not 100% effective.
Games are just another Application, so if your PC is specced properly, is maintained and running well then so will games.
You need to check my guide: share gaming tweaks and chec my comprehensive list will blow your mind
I would start with bios setting and power plan options, power savings, monitors, mice etc. Check definitely disable FSO and MPO - careful it is broken on nvidia drivers 471.11.
Do a system backup first before changing anything and understand what you are doing before you do something. Test only 1 change at the time, so you know if it helped.
Many people believe tweaking is placebo, but Windows 10 is very lagged compared to 7 and GUI consumes a lot of resources! Also BIOS setting needs to be properly set, there are lot of things on by default which cause lag! There is honestly tons of stuff, which affects input lag!
PM me if you have any questions...
