Running Diablo II on Windows 10  

I am trying to run an old game, Diablo II Lord of Darkness, on Windows 10.
Windows version 1809
I have installed the game, but when attempting to run it I experience two error messages.
The first states that there is a security or performance issue on Windows, and the second says an error was caused when initializing Direct Draw.
Diagnostic tools show that Direct draw is present and shows no issue or fault.
I must add that I am running Windows on a Mac under Bootcamp. But then I do with other games, and experience no problems with them.

I have come to the end of my limited Windows knowledge, can anyone on the forum help me?

Thank you for all of the help, but it still won't run. The same old error messages of Security and performance issues on Windows, and error whilst initializing Direct Draw.

Just curious do you have legacy features/direct play or something on? Also did you install direct from Diablo 2 folder, or Install folder? Every game uses some other version of directx and I don't mean like 11, 9 etc. There are millions of components.

I installed the game from my original CD's, Install Disk, Play Disk and Cinematics Disk. I'm sorry but I don't understand your question with regard to legacy features/direct play.
