DirectX 12 on old low end PC?

I don't have a problem, I'm just asking because I'm curious. I have a very old, low-end PC with an Intel Core i3-2120 CPU @ 3.30 GHz with 8GB of RAM and Intel HD Graphics 2000 running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit version 20H2. However, I appear to be running DirectX 12. I wouldn't imagine a computer with specs that low would be able to run DirectX 12, which is why I'm curious

Even on a low spec system if the GPU or CPU's GPU support DX12 (DirectX 12) it will be there. However, doesn't mean games will run at peak performance because of it since a game's performance relies on more than just the DX12 API. There are also other applications besides game that can make use of DX12 as well... even on a low spec system (in keeping things simple).

So yeah, you can have DX12 on a low spec system, but that doesn't mean many games will run since DirectX 12 isn't the only factor in a game's performance (again, keeping things simple).

    Hope that clarifies :)

That CPU and iGPU will not run the DirectX 12 feature set, only up to DirectX 10.1

Whilst it is possible to emulate in software some features of the higher versions of DirectX this would obviously be very slow, thus pointless.

The System info is telling you the version of DirectX supported by Windows 10.

If you run DXDIAG, the second Tab for Display should tell you the Intel HD 2000 Feature Levels:10_1,10_0, ... etc.

Yes, DirectX 12 is part of Windows 10. But as I also stated you need the hardware (GPU or CPU with an integrated IGP supporting DirectX 12) to run in DX12 (DirectX 12) mode. No... the OP doesn't appear to have the hardware to run DX12 games.

    Have a good day.

Switch to Display tab and you will see, what DX version your GPU supports.
