Compatibility old games windows 10 64 bit

I had to change my HD, now the old MS games that were able to run on Windows 10 do not work after reinstalling all the contents of damaged HD.
Possibly due to latest windows update?
I did run the compatibility test with the auto repair function to no avail.
I just want to make sure there are no other options left.
    Thanks for any replies.

I have the card games from WinXP that still run but those from Win7/8/8.1 always get removed at Version Upgrades so I keep them on the drive for quickly reinstalling. Got the WinXP off a computer I've saved and the Win7 from Winaero - At the edge of tweaking.

As a gamer, I have to ask how does changing a hard drive suddenly causes games not to work

Would also help to know what specific game the OP is talking about?

BTW - List of Games working on Windows 10.

Yes, I did have the winaero file, and it worked on my previous HD.
After the install of the new HD they would not open anymore.
It is not a major thing, but the old card games were nicer to play.

You might try fresh copies of the game files.

I was just talking about the old MS card games winows 7 ,8 and some older. They were just nicer to play then the new card games even though they are basically the same.
I shall just have to get used to the new ones, as an old gaffer, I hate changes.

    Here's the XP games...

    Dropbox - Games.zip - Simplify your life

They're clean and portable, no installation.

Just create a new folder and extract all to that folder. In the new folder will be a folder called Games.
Put the Games folder wherever you want. There are 6 games in there.
You can just run the games from there, or make shortcuts from those games to w/e you want.

There are a lot more files in the Games folder which are necessary.
Just the executables are shown in the pic.

Here's all the Windows 7 Games...

Windows 7 games for Windows 10 Anniversary Update and above

Iirc, the Win 7 "internet" games no longer work because Microsoft stopped them on their end.

    OK, that's all I have.

Thank you very much, the games do now work again.
I just do not understand why my exe file from winaero did not work.
    In any case, thanks again.

I just installed the Win 7 games from Winaero. I UN-checked the Internet games. It worked.
I did notice a 10 second delay after I chose the language.
It put them under Games on the Start Menu.

I didn't do anything special during install.

Same for me, no problems installing and the shortcuts went right to the start menu.
