Is Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) better now?

    That's funny. I almost have the same stuff as you have but to me, it runs like a dream. My setup is i7-7700K, 32GB RAM, GTX1060-3GB on 1920*1080, all fitted on a Z270 chipset. After some experimenting with the graphic settings (overall quite high), I run on a steady 30fps except at low altitudes over cities (or similar complex sceneries). And it looks just beautiful, I just can't believe my eyes. I'm so happy that I now can finally put FSX to rest, not a second too soon but rather years too late.

    Recently I bought an Xbox Controller for ground vehicles in State of Decay. Driving can be done with a keyboard but it's not easy

    The Xbox controller, although not as smooth & precise as my Thrustmaster T16000 FCS, did allow me to take off from Dubai International, fly around a bit, and land a bit roughly but intact on my very first try

    A "good" landing is one you walk away from

    The default Xbox controller mappings cover all that's needed. Flaps, throttle, trim, wheel brakes, Rudder, look around and of course ailerons & elevator

    If you stress the plane (too much airspeed or stall) the rumble motors in the controller clue you in plus the rumble also let's you know when you are moving on the ground

    So, if you have an Xbox controller you can fly without a FCS.....

    Recently I got the 6th update for MS Flight Simulator 2020 and it caused my AMD RX 580 video card to start stuttering

    Checking the Adrenaline software for the RX 580 I found an Update, which smoothed it back out

    I recently installed it and it plays OK but I've had a few crashes to the desktop. Has anyone had the is problem and fixed it?

    My problem was I had 16GB RAM and not enough virtual memory. The problem was solved by increasing the size of the paging file. I've since upgraded to 32GB RAM.

    Add an additional 1 TB SSD for just the sim (grow with time). It will reduce load times.

    Yes, I already have a 1T SSD for games (Crucial MX500). Even so, MSFS takes 2 minutes to load.

    Seems about right. This sim will run equally well on a spinning platter with the exception of longer load times. Once you start adding add on content it will increase over time.
