No One Lives Forever (Nolf Revival) immediately stopped working on 10

    Hi!

After I upgraded it never worked. (nolfrevival.tk version) Worked fine on 8.1 just before. Even reinstalling the game doesn't help. I gives errors like: DX7 is not installed, or cannot set D3D emulation mode.

Even though it's an old game this modded version claims compatibility with win 10 and 8. Besides the original version worked as well only ran crappily, with limited FPS, and I think there was some issue with the mouse...

I had no such issues on 8.1. Installed it, played it and that's that...

Not sure if it's related to the more dreadful system-wide issue I'm also having. (Although it's somewhat possible since the latency monitor program tended to show dxgkrnl.sys as having the highest latency by one of the measures when I had that issue prominently.)

Win 10 never ceases to disappoint...

If I had to guess, I'd say it needs DirectPlay? To enable that, Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features On or Off > expand Legacy Components > Tick DirectPlay box > Reboot.

Not sure if newer Windows versions work the same way to get there, maybe try just Searching for "Turn Windows Features On or Off" to get there quicker?

Well, that's enabled. Kind of sad that MS can't devise an upgrade that doesn't result in a crippled OS in this day and age...

I never found a solution. Only resetting the OS worked. A microsoft special.
    The other issues remain.
