Looking to upgrade CPU and Mobo

    Hey Guys!

    Here are my computer specs:
    Dell XPS 8700
    Original Motherboard
    CPU: Intel Core i5-4430 @ 3GHz Quad core 3001Mhz
    Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X series (2 x 8GB) 240pin DDR3 SDRAM 1600
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 Ti

I was looking to upgrade my CPU and motherboard and keep within budge of under $300.

I did stumble on something like: Robot Check
plus this mobo: B450-F Gaming Motherboard (ATX)

But would love to hear some thoughts on what I should look for or do you have your eyes on any compatible CPU+Mobo combos that you think would pair well with my system or be a good budget upgrade for me?

Might upgrade my GPU a few years down the road.

Any relatively recent motherboard/CPU combination will likely require new DDR4 RAM as well. Your CPU was introduced about 7 years ago. You can probably do OK with only 8 GB of RAM.

If you intend to stick with the Dell case and power supply, you might run into compatibility issues regarding connections to a new motherboard. I'm not sure how true that is for 7 year old hardware.

In the low to mid-range, I'd think in terms of:

    Motherboard: 80 to 100;
    8 GB DDR4 RAM; 50
CPU; all remaining budget; ideally 200 plus

That assumes you have no case and power supply compatibility issues.

That link to the AMD you posted would be a nice upgrade, but it appears to be out of stock with no price shown that I can see. And RAM is not included.
