    Any program to spoof machine hardware like GPU / CPU for a game ?


    I know there used to be one of these back in the XP days that could report to games fake Nvidia Geforce GPU with even software emulated transform and lighting but was never updated .

    Now whenever I research this topic again all i find are people claiming "but oh it will run like crap and blahs" , but my case is a little different here , actually it is to downgrade my hardware specs to legacy / eol programs that were designed to run on older hardware and windows .

    And no running them in compatibility doesn't quite solve the issue .

    Virtual machines are the answer here. Vmware player is free, and as an example windows 98 is abandonware and can be acquired easily.

    well virtual machine can spoof windows version yes , but then the hardware itself like GPU and CPU will be reported still .

    Sure but that does not matter. The OS is usually the cause of compatibility issues. While I am sure a super tiny amount of some games might not run due to weird hardware requirements I am sure those are quite rare. And in any case, you can get them working much easier on an older os it's meant for than a current one.

    You can still get a 3dfx wrapper that apparently works in Win 10 nGlide - Glide wrapper | Zeus Software

    i just tried it , it works specifically for games that were written for the voodoo card and directx so it just emulates the api calls for voodoo driver , mind you it has a mind of its own , it just sits there and pretend it is running while nothing seems effective of any sort , maybe i need to get a voodoo game to see if it is even working
