Unable to "move" Captures folder for Xbox Bar Captures

I have followed several tutorials to "move" the captures folder. But the problem is, I don't have one. This is where it has been pointing: Unable to "move" Captures folder for Xbox Bar Captures-capture.png

I am kind of at a loss, since all the help I have currently seen has shown how to move the existing captures folder.

    Thanks!

I read somewhere else where it recommended resetting the entire computer. I would VERY much like to not do that lol

    Hi, please see
Restore Default Location of Game DVR Captures Folder in Windows 10
    and
Move Location of Game DVR Captures Folder in Windows 10

Noting you say you don't have a Captures folder, note this from the first tutorial:

    6. If the "Captures" folder does not exist, then click/tap on Yes to create it. (see screenshot below)

Sorry for the 8 month delay

I had given up that I would get a response, and when I came back to ask again, I see your response to the first one!
I have no idea why the default on forums isn't to automatically subscribe to threads you are a part of, but I am subscribed now!

Anyhow, I saw those tutorials before, but I do not get those options. I am including some screenshots, but they are being saved in the Temp folder in AppData, so that may be why.

I get no location tab in the properties.

Well, you won't- not in TEMP files/folders...

P.S. thread bumping is prohibited in forum rules - available from link at top.

Any ideas then? I never set up captures before so no idea why it was there in the first place. Are you saying it's stuck in that location forever since i can't access the Locations tab to change?

    Thank you for your reply.

Please emulate this: (this is similar to the tutorial)
Unable to "move" Captures folder for Xbox Bar Captures-1.png

Now I don't have 'Game DVR' in Settings as per the tutorial. No idea why- I don't have Xbox and don't use this.
But I do have the Captures section in Settings.

What path is shown on yours (red?) If it's to some Temp folder, change it there in Settings.

You can see where mine is set- to a folder in the Videos library.

If I right click the Captures folder- green- (as described in the tutorial) I see a Location tab - blue.

If yours is not similarly configured, I suggest you make the necessary change.

For more: see tutorials on Location (simply search for that- there are quite a few).

    Not there

    Thanks for the reply!

I am unable to follow those steps. As I mentioned, there is no "Captures" folder. It points directly to the temp folder, and there is no Captures folder for me to edit. When I go into the properties on the temp folder, I have no "location" tab, so nothing can be changed.Unable to "move" Captures folder for Xbox Bar Captures-cap2.png

If you don't have one- create one.

I suggest you create a captures folder in Videos, and use the dialogue to point to it.

This solution is given in the tutorial in the first link of my first post : here it is quoted for you:

    Please re-read that tutorial.

The option which is shown in that tutorial is dependent on having a "Location" tab in the properties. I have manually added a folder called "Captures" in both the temp folder, and no location option for that one. I also added one in "Pictures", and the same. No Location tab.
I have read and re-read the tutorial, but all of the steps assume I already have a Captures folder, and that it has a "Location" tab.

I'd create the Captures folder in Videos, then set the location to that.

Then try rt clicking that Captures folder.

If that then has a Location tab, great: manually copy anything you want into it.

I think the tutorial attempts to deal with the folder being missing, but the possibility of it not being present is only dealt with late in the tutorial, which is confusing.

Perhaps you might like to bring that to Brink's attention by commenting under that tutorial and ask him to help you.
