Trouble with No Man's Sky Crashing

Hello all. Got No Man's Sky when it was on sale the other week and have been having a hard time playing it due to crashing. After I play for a while, it will shut down my PC and reboot it saying that there was a power surge and that ASUS protection shut down my computer to avoid the problem.

I was told to plug the computer directly into a wall socket and that did help. I can sometimes even play the game for an hour before it crashed now (2-5 minutes before), but it still crashes. I was also told to try Unigine Heaven and run it on Ultra to see if I could recreate the problem there and I could not.

    Current setup is:
    i7-4770 @ 3.40 GHz CPU
    16 GB RAM
    Nvidia GeForce 1070 ti
    A Thermaltake TR2 600w power supply

My power supply is old, maybe 8 years, and I don't mind replacing it, but I don't have this problem with any other game and don't want to replace it just because. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

sounds like the 12V rails are starting to wear out, always worth keeping your Power Supply updated for this very issue, best to replace anyway, even if it isn't the problem, otherwise it could cost you a lot more replacing all the parts that the power supply took out when it does eventually fail.

Thank you so much for the response! I had kinda figured I needed to replace the power supply, but it is good to hear some confirmation. I appreciate it!

Do you have any recommendations as to good power supplies? I don't know too much about this area.

any named brand power supply will do, and for the parts you have, I'd say 500-600w should be sufficient, anything with 80%+ efficiency rated bronze or above, EVGA do some good quality power supplies at any price point, built by "great wall", they normally are reliable too.
