    Old games gone

    I run Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) version upgrade 1903.
I upgraded to 1903 a couple of days ago and since then my favourite games have disappeared. They were:
    Classic FreeCell
    Classic Hearts
    Simple Solitaire
They are the old Win 7 Home editions, which I found on the net when I first upgraded to Windows 10, and worked perfectly.
They are still in my program files but won't open. I also have a file called "unwin7games" but am not sure if it's safe to open or if it would work if I did.
Is there any way to get my favourites back - or download them again? I think something must be missing since the upgrade.
Thanks for any help. I'll be back tomorrow to check for any answers.

Try checking here: Get Windows 7 games for Windows 10 where you can (hopefully) download them again.

Rumor has it, they've shut down the servers for those games, they may not work any longer.

    "unwin7games" is the package uninstaller.
Run that uninstaller, then re-download it from @Bastet 's link, install it again but uncheck the Internet Options...

There's no reason those standalone games shouldn't run!

    Working for me...

You can download them from the store, abandonwaredos or internetarchive.org

Those games will get disabled during a Version Upgrade. It's possible they may be disabled during a Build update [but not always]. I keep the downloaded file on all the computers I install on "just in case", doesn't take long to reinstall. The Version Upgrades and some Builds will also remove Registry tweaks but again save the downloads for reinstall.

Thank you all so much. I followed the links and instructions and they are now all back on my computer. Now, if I could just find a way to put a desktop shortcut link on for them it would be great! But I've tried and because they now show up under the recently added list (via the start button - that little windows square) there isn't an option to do so. However, I'm just so pleased I've got them back and can go back to playing them again. You people are simply great the way you always seem to be able to answer any questions - very, very helpful.

I Pin Mahjong to my Taskbar as that's the one I use most.

I avoid the problem by using the XP versions. They're so old that a W10 upgrade never bothers to look for them

The .exe's should be in C:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftGames,
simply right click a .exe►Send to►Desktop (create shortcut)

Once again thanks for coming to the rescue. I followed your instructions and now have the desktop shortcuts. So it's all good now.
