    Rx 480 fps

    Hey!

Kinda new to the gaming world (well with pc, have been using a ps3 for a while). Just bought a 2nd hand pc with a Sapphire RX 480 8GB graphics card.
After looking at many reviews it's suggested that the RX 480 comes just under the GTX 1060. I hope it will do a good job as i only intend to play 1080p.
My question is about fps. I see this value can fluctuate a lot in gameplay, is it best to cap this at 30-40-50?
I think I have read that the ps3 caps all games at 30fps.

    Hello.

Yes. PS3, PS4 and other consoles usually cap games at 30fps. This is because it's better to play at a solid consistent framerate rather than it fluctuating to create inconsistent framerate. They like to highlight and focus graphics over framerate. And they use motion blur a lot to hide any odd dips. Personally I favor high framerate because otherwise I get headaches, so I lower graphics settings until I hit consistent 60 or so. Shadow quality is one of those settings that can eat up your card. It's hard to say what's best because this varies a lot from user to user and game to game, but higher framerate is obviously better if your card can maintain it. Start at 50 and lower when needed I guess, or lower graphics settings for a more optimal experience.

If you cap it, cap it at your monitor refresh rate
