Where to report a video game company in US?

To be more specific, which public service in USA is authorized to accept reports for video game companies for anethical and illegal actions?

I never had to do that before, but now i found a specific company, that hijacks the player's game cash to enforce payment, aka ransom in order to withdraw specific amount of his/her cash or have it all available for a week for a fee. That company is Daybreak and the game is the DC universe online.

Such practices should not be tolerated by anyone and i wonder how people came to accept such blackmail behavior instead of react and report them to cut their "appetite". Game cash is essential part of all games and always free, since the player spends time and effort to collect it.

In 30y of gaming, i never had to pay any company to have my cash available and i'm not against paying a reasonable price for software that i choose, not for what i'm enforced to pay for what is rightfully mine, and simply leaving such a game, will let those greedy weasels there to keep getting away with this.

I haven't heard of this until now so I can't say much on it, but going up against a company is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, even if the law is on your side. It's going to drain your time and It can cost you a small fortune if you push lawyers in the equation through a class action lawsuit. If you do believe you've been scammed by a certain company - or that they perform illegal practices - you can contact the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). But I strongly advice you to read up on U.S laws before doing anything like this. if I were you I would contact Daybreak (both Email and in sent written form) to get a statement and a refund, and try to raise awareness on Reddit (the gaming sections) and social media, and try to contact a few activists, YouTubers and journalists that provides commentaries on this specific topic if the company's actions are fraudulent or illegal. The most effective way to get to a company is through bad public relations.

As far as I know the EULA can't overwrite the law. They must oblige to what is set by rule in which state or country the game or service is sold in. It's a lot to read in to, especially since law is different all over the place, but game companies are under a grey area where the laws has not caught up to yet, mostly because it should be self-regulated. I know Europe is on top of several shady business practises like this. In fact, Netherlands and Belgium have banned the virtual curreny of a "loot box" because it represents gambling, therefore goes under the rules of gambling in those countries, regardless of a license agreement set by the companies.

Thank you for taking time to reply, but i didn't say that they scammed me, but i spoke of a general situation that involves all players there, and specifically the free to play and premium ones, who are able to use only 1500-2000 game cash but for the rest they collect, they have to pay real money to get them in rent mode, something that does not apply in ANY other game !!!! This is clear blackmail (your money or no game cash) and hijacking situation, and people must react, not for this company, but for any other will attempt to do the same and play such "games" on their backs.

I'm not US resident, nor i can sue them, but all i want to do, is to get the attention of the proper agency and have them check this company. As i have seen, they have been getting away for years with this exactly because people do not stand for the right. This is sad and outrageous at the same time. I'm almost positive this is illegal in their state. Game cash is considered essential item and not special to purchase separately. I urge people to react on such situations.

Clam offers good advice. See specifically 5.1. Virtual Currency

Reading that suggests you may be misunderstanding the situation. Because it was otherwise in other games at other times doesn't mean much for this specific case.

Lugh, did i speak about the virtual currency? I'll tell u, no i did not ! I'm getting annoyed when someone reads fast a text and replies without making sure he understood the point, so i'm writing it again here........GAME....CASH, i did not say anything about REAL CASH.

NO, i did NOT misunderstand anything about how it used to be and how it is, because GAME CASH is still free in any game there is out there, but not in this case. Seriously, my texts could not be more clear to someone who is interested to know what is going on and try to do something about it, NO other company charges their players to use their GAME......CASH.... which u need to pay with REAL CASH to use them in rental mode of a week or get an amount.

I wrote this topic for other reason but also to make it known widely to others who care and do not stay in apathy and can send a report about this, and i was detailed enough. The capitals in this reply, clear it out strongly, so if someone still thinks my point the virtual currency, then i can't help it, because THEIR virtual currency is called DC for pc platform, and i did not refer to it.

[Note to Admin, why can't i update my op?]

You're not reading Lugh's reply Spyros78, virtual currency is exactly what you're describing, it's a currency you use in a game, whether you bought it or not, even if there's several currencies in game, it's still virtual currency, take the mobile market for example, often mobile games have 2-3 currencies, Simpsons tapped out for example has donuts (paid currency) and coins (traditional currency), the elder scrolls blades has 2 currencies too, gems (paid currency) and coins (traditional currency).

The fact of the matter is, you're playing a free to play massively multiplayer online roleplaying game(MMORPG), almost all MMORPG will have a similar in game system for dealing with finance, they don't just get money from thin air after all, they have to charge something at some point, it's up to you to keep an eye on how much you spend of your game cash, you entered your credit card/debit card information when you signed up for the game, if you didn't intend on spending any real world money on a free to play game, then you should have aborted at that point.
