    Question about installing DirectX 6

I'm trying to get Master of Orion II to work, but it needs DirectX 6.1. I've learned that installing version 9 on top of version 12 (or whatever W10 has) is safe, but is installing version 6 on top of 9 safe? The game won't run with version 9, because it can't find DPLAY.DLL.

I tried installing DX6 on a Win10 system and it failed.

I'm not familiar with the Windows version of MOO2 but according to the first result on Reddit you can just extract the dplay.dll and dplayx.dll files from the DX6 installer and stick them into the data folder - MOO2 on Windows 10 : masteroforion

Or you can just shell out $3 and get MOO1 and MOO2 on Steam, which come with pre-configured DOSBOX.

    Thx.

I have the DOSBox package you mentioned, but the animations don't work quite right.

It turns out that the W95 version also has problems, but maybe I can tweak that with DxWnd.
