I have the Samsung VR that came with my Galaxy phone. I really liked the VR app where I flew around and toured our Solar System

Yes. Watching the some thing from a VR google is not the same as watching it on a flat screen TV.
That's what I am anticipating.
VR devices must have some value, read a news-blurb where IMAX is considering shutting down their VR feature.
My VR headset delivered today.
My "experiment" is declared D.O.A.
Found out that my Moto E4 running Android 7.1 does not have gyroscope sensor which is needed to watch 3D videos and play 3D games.
Furthermore, I am short-sighted. Even with my glasses on, the images are not focused at all. That means I will have this "focus" issue with an expensive standalone VR.
So, what's left to be done is to return it to Amazon.ca and forget about VR device.
What a disappointment.
Aw There are so many criterias to VR that it's easy to fall into a wrong hole somewhere, be it either hardware or human flaw. There should be some checklist for it or something to avoid a bad purchase, but I assume you got all your money back through a guarantee? I'm glad I tested VR a couple of years ago. I would be furious to buy something for $800 (I think it costs something like that back in 2016) just to give me headaches and nausea.
I have the Oculus Rift. And I love it. I am using a i5 6600k @4.6 ghz and a GTX 1080 GPU. Lot of fun. And I got my wife the Oculus Go. And it's a lot of fun and and a stand alone system. Way better then those add on headsets that uses your phone as the screen insert.
Actually you can play most of the VR games on Steam.
I personally got a HTC Vive over Xmas and I love it. Yes I get some motion sickness a few times but it's not going to put me off. Also Vive have their own place for games (Viveport) and I believe the Oculas can run all the games from there to.
There are even a lot of games that were never designed for VR that work with a little tweaking. Alien Isolation for example just needed 1x file placing in the games folder which made it full VR. And boy is it good
I'm loving a lot of the new VR games and from what I have been seeing there are some stonking titles coming this year. I also love some of the old school games such as Quake 1/2 and the original Doom 2.
Yep it's a pretty expensive bit of kit. And not forgetting the PC needed to run it. And not forgetting the sapce needed for Roomscale play but I can see myself getting years of fun out of it. Well not just myself but family/friends.
I've also done the lens mod on my vive which makes it soooo much clearer with a huge weet spot and no god rays :)
Thanks for the info.
Unfortunate, the "focus" issue deprives me of the anticipated pleasures of VR experience.
