gta unplayable and freezing on startup after windows update

    Hello

I have the game gta5 which i sometimes play online, after a big windows update (I believe it was the creators update) I now have a problem where it seems the frame rate drops about 30 seconds into a session, it only drops from 60-around 30 so I don't know why this makes it unplayable but basically it goes all juddery and I lose all control of my character/car etc so it makes it unplayable. Also since the update, about a third of the time the pc freezes on startup for a couple of minutes

I have done a ton of searches on this, found a number of fixes but none of them has helped, I did find one fix that let me play for 20 minutes or so but then it happened again immediately so it evidently didn't work

the only other thing I have found as a potential fix is rolling back to a previous version of windows, if I do this will my pc still be secure? Also if I roll back will windows just install the creators update back on there at it's first opportunity?

    Thanks

Ok thanks I filled that out

I should maybe add that before the update I had played over 200 hours of this game without this issue on this exact setup

Try installing the NVIDIA GeForce driver that they have, not the Windows version. Drivers | GeForce Latency on your network connection can also cause issues.

Try this "Remove your drivers using DDU ( Display Driver Uninstaller) in safe mode.Download and do a clean install of the latest drivers from Nvidia.com.Only install the driver itself and PhysX, not GeForce Experience or any of that other stuff."

    Known issue with 1803.

    ok thanks

is Display Driver Uninstaller a third party program? Will it remove geforce experience when it removes the driver?

Ok I just read the guide for ddu

after I use it uninstall the graphics driver should I go back and use the ddu to uninstall the geforce experience too or just do the driver?

apologies for all the questions, I just want to do it right, when i watch a youtube video of ddu, the guy starts ddu and a box pops up where you can set it to do safe mode for you but this box doesn't show on the latest version of the software which I have, do I have to find and go into safe mode independently myself?

Just letthe software remove everything and then when you reinstall q, just install the driver. Easy to overthink these things.
