How To Record Game Play and Put On Youtube?

My child is very taken by watching game play on Youtube and wants to join in.

Apparently it is a big thing there.

Someone plays a game and records their game play with the added feature of having a little window with a picture of themselves in it commenting on what they're doing.

There's only OBS that I've had any experience of that might do something like that but a friend tells me he thinks there's something comes with Windows 10 that can be used.

Can anyone help with information on that, or direct me to a link perhaps, save me the trouble of googling, downloading, installing, testing half a dozen different options?

I'm assuming you're talking about live streaming and not recording offline gameplay and uploading it afterwards.

Windows has a Game Bar that makes streaming very simple. Unfortunately it only works with Microsoft's Mixer service.

nVidia has streaming (with facecam) support in the Geforce Experience if you have an nVidia card - Broadcast Your Gameplay with GeForce Experience Share | GeForce . I assume AMD has a similar feature. This is probably your best bet if you want to get something running quickly.

But there's a reason OBS is so widely used.

Thanks for the reply. No, I didn't think of live streaming. That's how old fashioned I am.

I think he just wants a video up on Youtube that looks like the ones he sees.

Then he believes he'll get followers and viewers.

So what's the best way for me to enable him to record his activites - both browsing Youtube game videos and perhaps playing his own games (mainly Minecraft) with a pic of himself in the corner commenting and upload that finished vid to Youtube?

We'll look at this live streaming later after I've got this nailed down.

Yep, I've done that in the past. Just never put up a Youtube video from the recording. I'm just here wondering if there's any 'better' ways.

Use MSI Afterburner's game capture software for recording. OBS is kind of buggy.

have you a link to it? I can only find their overclocking stuff...

If you have an Nvidia GTX series graphics card, you can use Shadowplay. If your computer has an AMD Radeon graphics card, you can use Relive. Both of these apps are free and do a much better job at recording the screen with minimal performance loss, but they don't work for all graphics cards.

That's interesting. Thanks for that. But no use to me right now I fear. I've got onboard Intel HD Graphics on this machine is all.

I have another ASUS machine where the situation would be the same.

I do have a Radeon card in the old machine I have running XP but I don't think that would be a good platform for all this. It wouldn't run the games. Maybe good for just general Youtube vid making, though, using one of those progs.

Maybe down the track I'll get a graphics card. Last time I thought about it I discovered that onboard graphics have improved so much that to beat them I'd have to go upmarket on the card I bought to where it'd cost more than I wanted to pay - me not being a dedicated game player or anything....

Wonder if Asus or Intel or someone will come up with something for their boards to compete with Shadowplay or Relive?
