Low FPS / FPS Drops on some games when updated to latest os.

Most of my games dropped their FPS when I updated to latest version of Windows 10 version 1803 (OS Build 17134.81). Idk how to fix this. I tried defragging, checking for viruses, freed up some space, ccleaned, checked for os errors. still the same. System's temperature are all good. Biggest fps drop was on PUBG keeps getting 50 fps and I'm so pissed as a very competitive player. I also checked the task manager and I can assure that the only one running is the game I'm playing itself only. Specs on my profile.

Always reinstall your graphics driver to the latest stable version after performing an OS upgrade instead of a fresh Windows upgrade because dlls can hang and/or get corrupted causing issues similar to what you have. Make sure you click "custom installation" during the driver installer and choose "clean". You can also use DDU to completely clear out the driver and start fresh if you feel like it.

    I've also done that one

Have you tried Nvidia Control Panel > 3D settings > Power Management Mode and select 'Prefer Maximum Performance' and turn Vsync off. Lower some of the in game settings, V Sync and Grass effects to very low?

PUBG is very GPU heavy and depends a lot on your graphics card. My 1080 TI runs at close to 100% usage all the time. What monitor are you using and what is the refresh rate (Hz)?

    I'll try that one.

My monitor is BenQ XL2411Z 144Hz.

I may be wrong, but I believe at 1080p games will put more stress on the CPU where at 1440p it will put most of the strain on the GPU. Plus, in my opinion, PUBG is a not very well coded game and there is a lot of server lag in it. Plus, the game is capped at 145 FPS.

It's not recommended to turn Vsync off or change the power mode to full in the Nv control panel under the global tab as it will affect more than just games and will create unnecessary power draws and may cause oddities when running hardware-accelerated applications in fullscreen. Instead locate PUBG .exe under the appliation tab and change these settings there.

You are correct. Both the GTX 1060 and the i7 4770 fits nicely together, but PUBG is poorly optimized regardless of it running in UE4, so don't expect stable frame times. You can see if you are bottlenecked by monitoring its usage with MSI Afterburner. If one cpu thread peaks at 100% while the gpu usage drops then the game is not utilizing what your PC is capable of, the game is then bottlenecked. If all threads peak at 100% then your machine is bottlenecked. If the graphics card is at 100% then obviously it's that. Mitigating a CPU or a GPU bottleneck is to increase the processing by the graphics card or the processing unit. Things like physics, particles and LOD are your typical CPU intensive settings, while resolution, texture filtering and shaders are for the GPU. You should do some monitoring and find out what may be causing poor framerates for you. If the game is bottlenecked then overclocking one or the other will help, but it's usually not recommended if you don't know how this works.

If the OP states the PUBG ran better before the upgrade, then it's clearly an OS problem.

If anything does not work, re-install Windows using the media creator tool.
