    Windows 10 superfetch?

    Hello.

I have a laptop with 4 Gigs of RAM, i started to use Windows 10 10240 Build (Switched From anniversary update). then i noticed all my games like Fortnite/GTA V stopped stuttering, whenever i use any other version of windows 10 other than 10240, my games starts to lag crazyly. i noticed in 10240 Build, whenever i play high end games, The 'system' process uses 500MB-ish while the game is at 800-ish. In other versions of Windows 10 though, The 'system' Process is always at 0.1 MB while the game takes entire RAM. so i noticed its the superfetch service. whenever i disable it, even the 10240 Build runs the system process at 0.1mb and the games starts to lag crazy. then i enabled superfetch in other versions of windows 10 other than 10240, but they all still lag. so what is it thats special about superfetch in this 10240 version that no other windows 10 version got?

You really should not be using 10240 as it has not been supported for a long time (neither is AU version).

I don't know if this issue is what you have, but from build 1703 and onwards the standby memory and superfetch has been broken for some users. Games stutter because Windows fail to release and swap cached memory data properly. It should be known by now by Microsoft (I contacted them a few months ago), but don't hold your breath for a fix anytime soon. Maybe build 1803 will fix it, but it's not officially out yet.

This is not a great idea, and should only be done as a last resort.

You might think it is. But I have it turned off since then and haven't got any problems at all.

If anything, turning it off solved my problem of Windows 10 torturing my hard drive to a halt.

Since you're on a hard drive, I'd have left it on.
