    Recommended me a gaming headset

I'm after a "quality" ON-EAR headset with boom mike and inline volume/mute control to plug directly (and work!) into the newer Xbox One controller that has a 3.5mm jack.

    Suggestions welcome

Best Buy lists a few. But I`m sure there`s no Best Buy across the pond

Bose or Sony make the best headphones money can buy, in my opinion.

    Did you google it ?

I dont know if you've made a purchase yet, but I personally use a Sennheiser Game Zero. They have everything you're looking for, but I'm not sure if they work with Xbox One. The jack is standard 3.5" so it should. They're also on-ear, collapsible, and come with a carrying case, as well as an additional 2.5" jack. Audio quality is excellent and crisp.

    Downsides:
    1. Mic cant be detached, but is adjustable
    2. Some say the volume is a bit low, I personally am not an audiophile, it's plenty loud enough once they're broken in.
    3. A bit spendy

If they're not loud enough for you then you should look into buying a USB DAC/amp. I dont feel like it needs one though.

    Hope that helped!

I recommend looking into Sennheiser too, but I'm not sure that they have everything you want in one headset
