Have you actually tried monitoring with task manger while a game is running?
There can be a correlation between the amount of RAM that is installed and whether the game or Windows is accessing the Virtual Memory/paging file on the drive. More of each can be quite beneficial in such cases.
I disabled superfetch and Xbox game dvr that seemed to help stop the problems on most games . But I still get high disk usage in fallout 4. I have 8gb ram and a GTX 1060 3gb and a Core I5 4570 3.2ghz
