    Xbox one washed out colours ?


    We have our Xbox one and the gaming pc connected to the same 24” Iiyama prolite e2473hs (1080) monitor. Both connect via hdmi. I just don’t think the in game colours when using the Xbox one look quite as vibrant / sharp as they should. Can’t say I ever noted same level of dissatisfaction when using the pc in the same monitor.

    we also have a PS4 hooked to our 46” plasma living room tv and by contrast everything looks really vibrant. My son plays FIFA 17 on both the PS4 and the Xbox one. I think it looks better on the PS4 by a reasonable margin. Is it that the PS4 is just generally better? Does the Xbox one work better connected to a normal tv rather than a pc monitor? I have played about with all sorts of the monitor settings on which the Xbox is connected with very little change or improvement. It looks good don’t get me wrong and it’s very fluid but just lacks vibrancy and sharpness compared with the pc and/or PS4. The menus etc in the Xbox all look nice and sharp so it’s more of an in game perception. There’s probably nothing wrong and it’s just my dodgy eyes!

    It's a TN display panel which are very viewing angle dependent. Most are washed out by looking from a higher angle. More noticeable when close. In that scenario if you are vertical over the top edge then the colours are more washed out towards the bottom edge which is being viewed at an angle.
    That's how you know it is that type of LCD panel.

    Thank you. I did hook the Xbox up to our plasma tv and it looks much better on there. Just strange that the pc / windows didn’t look as washed out on the TN/LCD as the Xbox did!
