Why does BFBC2 hard crash on my new system?

I have loaded Battlefield Bad Company 2 onto my new build, however, when I attempt to play BFBC2 it will randomly hard crash, sometimes after 10mins or 20mins - who knows.
All the drivers are up to date and I have never had this problem on my old system.

    Any ideas?
    Tom.

    New system: Windows 10 Home 64bit, Asus ROG Strix B350-F Gaming, Ryzen 5 1600, XFX RX580 8GB, G-Skill 16Gb 2400MHz.
Old System: Windows XP, Asus P5W DH Deluxe, E6400 core 2 duo, Sapphire HD6850, Corsair 4Gb 800MHz.

Do you have any other games to test? If you’re not having a problem in any other game, I’d chalk it up to a problem with that specific game. It was released in 2010.

PSU crapping our under load is a possibility but it would happen in other games. My whole system restarted when I experienced it, though. Being such an old game it could be OS, drivers or the game.

No problems with other games or day to day usage, it’s probably the game itself.

Currently, I have three other games installed BF1, Company of Heroes and Plants vs Zombies. They all work just fine, except for BF1 which is giving me its own brand of problem, see here: Random 1-3 second black screens when playing Battlefield 1. | TechPowerUp Forums

I'd be surprised if it was the PSU as I'm using a new Corsair HX750 and prior to that I was using an Enermax Modu87+ 600W, on the old system.

    No other problems.

Unlikely, but re-seat the gfx card.

What’s the temps look like on the card under load? You can let HWMonitor run in background while playing and take note of highest temp:

Is your RAM or CPU OC’d? If so, set them to stock and retest.

I know you said drivers were up to date, but what about UEFI BIOS?

Next step would be to use display driver cleaner and then reinstall gfx drivers.

Beyond that, I’m not sure. Be nice to have another 580 to compare but doubt you can swing that.

Try reporting the issues to gfx card manufacturer as well as AMD.

Ok, I've done a complete DDU and loaded on the latest driver (17.12.2) and now I'm getting random 2-5 second black screens. Not experienced a hard crash yet but it was too annoying to carry on.

I also get the black screens when playing BF1.

Have you tried running as admin? This very often fixes issues such as the one your having right now. Try compatibility mode to.

Just gave it a go and I got several, brief black screens.

Have you ever gotten a black screen when not in a game?

Random black screen/hard crash only happens with BF1 and BFBC2. It does not happen during normal, everyday computing or with plants vs zombies (probably not surprising).
I have not done a decent test yet of Company of Heroes.
