What Games are you playing right now? [2]

Who has Far Cry 5, Blackrose maybe? Generally I have no issues with the game. It runs well, and smoothly. But I installed the recent High Res Texture pack. You have to enable it in graphic options but I even restarted the game to make sure it was working. So I was playing the game (for the second time) and didn't really notice any difference in the graphics. Figured it's my old eyes. Then I ran the benchmark again. Look at this:

How can my minimum and average FPS be 2 FPS higher with the high res textures enabled? If I remember correctly, the high res texture download was only a couple of GB. Usually high Res add ons are about 50GB. What is going on there - "fake" high res textures?

The HD textures pack is 20+GB and definitely not fake. It downloaded to me a few days ago. I've rarely seen games with official textures packs above 50GB. The latest one I can think of is Fallout 4 -for some odd reason - and FFXV maybe, but that also includes higher pre-rendered videos so it's not exactly the same. I usually ignore these because of storage concerns and minimal visual gains, but for some reason Steam downlaoded it to me automatically… Your benchmark is marginal though. You should run it more than once and create an average percentage, or did you do it?

Yeah I forget the size of the FC5 texture pack. FFXV was about 50GB and another game - can't remember. Yes I did run the benches several times - HR on and off. Point is I noticed the in game graphic difference big time in the other games. I notice 0 difference with the FC5 high res textures on while playing the game and it's making no difference in 1080P performance. I'm old but my eyes are still good according to my eye doctor.

You can't be older than me for sure? I'm in my 20's. I've always read your comments like you're some teenager (in a positive way) Well, I only play games at 1080p so I can't see much of a difference in sheep wool with or without texture packs. No clue why you gain performance though in FC5, usually textures doesn't affect much on it, unless it's "heavy" or modded. If the VRAM is higher then surely the textures is in effect.

Yeah, the fun of playing games always makes me feel like I'm in my 20's again. That is until my two nephews ( 18 and 21) watch me do a boss fight in Doom saying "very good, uncle" and then take over the key board and get through the boss fight in one tenth of the time LOL.

Well if you're saying you don't see much of a difference either at 1080P I'll simply appreciate the "young gun" support and leave it at that. Plus, after all, the update was free other than the download usage and space.

Yeah, well they cheat . Seems my Corsair K70 rapid fire keyboard and mouse have all kinds of options for gaming. They spend 15 minutes adjusting DPI, setting up profiles and short cut keys before they will even start gaming. No clue what they are doing and I hit reset to defaults when they are done.

I don't think game bar worked in AC Origins either, must be a Ubisoft thing.
