Is Odyssey any good story and gameplay wise? I see it on Steam, but it's frakin' expensive! And I see they have added a "ultimate edition" to it ontop of Gold and Deluxe? What the hell? Guess I'll wait for a sale.
I just started playing it and I've finished 4-5 quests on the starting island of Kefalonia. I'm enjoying it, Alexios (main character) seems more fun than the one in Origins and the story so far seems interesting even though no major plots have come out of it yet.
I think this is going to be a big step up from Origins in terms of an RPG, story wise and gameplay. Read one of the first reviews on Steam and they go over some of the things that will make this different and better.
Origins was worth the money, this one will be too. I did get Origins on sale though I got 20% off Odyssey in Uplay for 100 Ubi credits also. You may have missed out on that one but check Uplay in case. If you have something else to play wait for a sale.
Thanks for the impressions The game looks neat with added roleplaying and character progression (I played Origins and thoroughly liked it), but that price tho… The game may have a ton added, but I'm not paying $70-135 for it. I checked Uplay for a discount (I have over 1000 of those U-coins), but I couldn't see much. Even if it's still available, Uplay is cluttered with tabs which didn't help my search. And It's using Euros for currency which makes the prices even higher for me.
Yeah, Game Bar won't open up anymore if you're in fullscreen mode in a lot of games.
My graphic settings are:
Graphic Quality: Custom
Adaptive Quality: 45 FPS
Anti-Aliasing: Adaptive
Shadows: High
Environment Details: Ultra High
Texture Detail: High
Terrain: High
Clutter: High
Fog: High
Water: Very High
Screen Space Reflections: High
Volumetric Clouds: Very High
Character Texture Detail: High
Character: Ultra High
Ambient Occlusion: High
Depth of Field: High
Probably. I've messed around with the settings a bit and haven't noticed any dramatic changes. Volumetric Clouds is supposed to be a framerate killer, but I haven't noticed much difference even if I completely turn it down. I may try to mess around a little more tonight and see what I can come up with.
Edit: I managed to average 58 FPS in the benchmark on the Low setting with AA turned off.
