I agree with the sentiment, CountMike. Actually I believe BFV will have a campaign/single player. COD Black Ops 4 won't. I'm more than disappointed in that.

I just preloaded Shadow of the Tomb Raider. That's definitely mucho single player. And it was "ONLY" a 25 GB preload. But from what I hear the "Ray Tracing patch" for SOTTR will come later. Don't know how big that will be but always difficult to manage download limits if you have them, especially when patches, updates are thrown out that you don't want or need.

They are loosing many customers. Super large downloads, heavy HW requirements and AI is getting depreciated in games although it has made great strides in other fields. Not very good future. This way they don't have to bother with plots or anything intelligent.

Yep, the game is an Nvidia sponsored title with all the Game Works features. With all the eye candy on, it will push even the highest end GPU's. Additionally. I have a 1080P monitor so GFE recommended settings push that up to a 150% resolution scale which is tough on performance. Look at this video with 150% resolution and all game works features on. As the boat turns towards that beautiful city, the FPS actually drops to high 40's. And there is no battle going on.

Overall, I don't really care if the FPS drop a bit below 60. What I try to avoid at all cost are stutters. I occasionally get them at the GFE recommended settings, 150% resolution scale, mostly ultra and all game works features on.
Yep resolution looks to be the killer here, I can drop back to 75% res and keep 80-90 fps, even in battles. But the res looks like crap at 75%, blurry almost like 720p. What resolution does 150% give you on your 1080p monitor? What res scale did you settle on for playing the game? 125%?

I experience the same as in your defeat Foras video, quite high fps at 80 fps but also the big occasional big dips into 50 fps. Is that a physics thing? Certain weapon effects seem to trigger those big fps dips...

BTW how do you describe your stutters?

I believe Nvidia's resolution scaling is simply a multiplier, so for me it's 1920 by 1080 at 150% which would mean it's rendering the game at 2880 by 1620 and then downsampling that to my native 1080p resolution. Typical 1440p is 2560 by 1440 so that 150% resolution scale is a significant performance hit. Yes, I settled at 125% which is something slightly less than traditional 1440p.

Describe stutters? Annoying LOL. I don't mind if the FPS drops a bit as long as the game play is smooth but it's the occasional stutter or pause for a split second that I try to avoid at all cost.

Sometimes I will look at what Nvidia's GFE recommends for a lower graphic setting for the particular game by moving the slider one tick or two below optimal. In my case with my 1080p monitor one tick lower is a recommendation to drop the resolution scale to 125%.

If you want to see the stuttering, look closely (from about the 1.50 minute point) at this video as the FPS quickly drop from 120 to 111 to 57 and then 35. Stutters. Man, the game is using almost all my vram but also all my system ram. Typically stutters can occur when all vram is being used.

BTW, not to spoil anything but this is the part where they are all giving you a pep talk for the final boss fight where I get my butt kicked. I will say some of the cut scenes are interesting. Don't know how they come up with this stuff.

I see it. Those FPS drops are really jarring. Is there any indication as to cause? Is it just this game? There's nothing in that scene that seems to correlate with such a large frame drop :/ It sort of looks like the effect from some sort of random bottleneck. I haven't experienced exactly that but I am getting something similar. Occasionally my fps will halt all the way down to 2-3 fps briefly and then back to normal all in the matter of 2-3 seconds. I have no idea what that is. All of your system ram, are you sure? Pretty sure I'm using 8GB at best in this game...

The last number on the third line of the OSD is showing you the system ram usage. At around minute 2 of that video you see vram usage of 10,598MB, vram clock which is typically 5508MHZ and then system ram usage which is 15,724MB. I have 16GB of system ram.

That point for me was the worst stutter in the entire game and it happened when moving from cut scene (120FPS) quickly down to game mode. No other games don't do that from what I recollect unless I have another game that uses full blow game works and a 150% resolution scale. Maybe Ghost Recon Wildlands but I don't remember.

I've been thinking about picking that up, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish it before Assassin's Creed comes out, which I'd then try to finish before Red Dead 2 comes out. Would you do me a favor and let me know your thoughts on it after you've played it for a bit? I really enjoyed Rise of the Tomb Raider, so I'm kind of looking for a reason to get Shadow as well.

Hey, good to hear from you blackrose. Missed you, buddy. Sure I'll let you know how SOTTR is. I only bought the basic edition so my game doesn't unlock on the 12th. Have to wait for the 14th. I hate when they do that kind of stuff.

    @specialkone

This is what I experience, frame drops in battles like these. Most of the fight is not too bad not dropping below 70 fps but look at around 0.26 when I strike that big hammer and the fps drops to 40-50 fps.

Why does a big effect like that rock the framerate? I am sure this related to the GPU, maybe it's all of the particles on screen or the physics of that big hammer slamming...
