Seems like a number of gamers went for the sale on FFXV the past week.

The game certainly want players to be creative and experimental rather than shooting their way through the game. That's why you see more gadgets and tools and not straight up weapons. I think Dead Space is a good comparison, but not really Half-Life to be honest. With that said I played through the game on hard sneaking my way with a fully upgraded shotgun, not being creative at all. I didn't feel like I needed to recycle my junk all the time though. Shouldn't be an issue if you upgrade the inventory space and use the recycle grenades.

I can see that. If you like Prey you should definitely check out Bioshock and Systemshock if you haven't already. And If you want more stealth and planning than action check out the Dishonored games from the same studio, I can vouch for them all. Speaking of Arkane, I kind of want to try out Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, looks like fun. I played the demo a decade ago, but never actually played the full game.
