Anyone playing/played Final Fantasy XV? I bought this game after hearing about the great graphics. Impressive indeed. I have all Nvidia Game Works features on and using a resolution scale of 150%. Look at the OSD in this video. Almost my entire 11GB of video ram is being used. At these settings, even this 1080 TI struggles a bit at times.

FFXV is supposed to use almost all your VRAM if you're using highest TRAM setting. It's aggregated in percentages, lower TRAM means less VRAM pool size and vice versa. It just affects the LOD on textures at a distance, not the quality. It doesn't matter if you have an abundance of VRAM either, it will use it all eventually on the highest setting. I like the game too, it's very nice, albeit a bit clichéd and cheesy, but it's a FF game, they are all clichéd and cheesy.

Forza 7, a track at an airport. Tracks don’t get much wider than that and I’m still hitting stuff.

Racing through the hangers is hilarious. Check out the change in sound (echo) through the buildings. Sweet!
    That is cool!

Yeah, I noticed some other games will also use all available vram. COD does that. What I don’t get is why some games use all vram but many don’t. Forza 7 which I have set on a 4K resolution scale and highest textures never goes much above 5 GB. Project Cars 2 at 2K DSR consistently uses no more than about 4GB as does Star Wars Battlefront. GRW also uses about 5 GB.

I assume game devs are making graphic optimization choices to allow lower end GPU’s (up to 6GB vram) to run as smoothly as possible, but that’s just a guess. Don ‘t know why there is such a difference in vram being used depending on the game.

That car is cool too but maybe I should have picked a car that doesn't get airborne going over the bumps.

I started playing it but switched off because of Walking Dead Final Season

I switched off FFXV because even though I'm at the citadel I can't seem to find that final boss. My guess is that's good game coding by Square Enix who has been tracking my game play and is telling me I'm no where near ready to face the final boss fight.

Good question. The method used in FFXV is not common, or I've rarely seen a seperate texture RAM option in games. In most cases maxing out VRAM will cause stutters, but in FFXV it's almost reversed. I get smoother gameplay on the highest setting. Unused RAM is a waste, seems to be the case with VRAM too in a few titles. Developers are probably experimenting with texture streaming.

I just bought Vermintide 2 so I will be trying that out this weekend. I'm also trying out WOW and re-playing Far Cry 3.

Forza 7 again. Look how gorgeous that Prague track layout is.

Nascar at Daytona anyone? After messing up the start I squeaked out a win on the last lap. Mucho fun!
