I think I had more fun at work than I would have playing such games.
This is why I challenge those that think gaming is child's play. That said, I don't mind a challenge at times, but sometimes game developers and mappers go overboard where it takes the fun out of the game.
Massive Entertainment (developer of Division 2) recently released a patch toning down the difficulty level in it's recently New York add on for the Division 2 as there were many complaints of certain bosses being near invincible or where certain weapons from enemies were insta kill to players; or gear unevenly leveled.
I remember playing Witcher 2 where in the first chapter defeating the Kayran boss was so hard and annoying even on easy that many players quite the game and there were many posts on this. CD Project ultimately patched the game to tone down the difficulty level.
So yeah, when your games become so challenging it causes players to quit, that's a problem.
All that said, Division 2 is designed to be challenging and makes no secret of this. It's also highly recommended to play in groups instead of solo play where some areas (and boss fights) can be extremely difficult. I guess Massive decided to make the puzzles and navigating around areas just as difficult as well
One reason I like single player games is that I can pause them and get my bulging eyes and fingers cramped from mouse rested and go get a coffee or drink. If you do that in MM games you are a door nail.
Yeah, I also prefer single player games as well. Division 2 is actually my first true multi-player I've ever played. And even there I play solo 90 percent of the time. It's actually a game I wouldn't have bought being a multiplayer game, but I got it for free when I bought my Radeon VII GPU.
That said, I do find it a fun game at times, and I've had a lot of success playing solo. But yeah, it's challenging, and frustrating at times because you can spend a lot of time completing a mission as boss fights are a pain so you find yourself dying and dying and dying over and over again. And you can't quit or you'll have to play the entire mission over again That's the biggest part I hate.
I'm just in it for the gunfights which are awesome, puzzles are ok, countdown timers are a chore, it's the third person perspective that I dislike. These online MP games would have been addictive 40 years ago but I will always prefer SP FP offline shooters.
