Help finding 52x internal CD burner

My laptop came with a 24x burner
I still burn Cds for people/bands daily.
    I need a faster drive

I see 24x all over the place
For the life of me I can't find stores that sell 52x internal laptop drives

Can anybody help me with locating some?

You will do better buying an external. You should be able to find a slim one.

You don't really need one. That is the max speed of the drive, they start much slower and only reach that speed towards the outer edge.
You may find say a 32x drive actually quite close on average over the whole disc.

Laptop drives are limited by power requirements. Higher speed drives take a lot more power.
No problem in a Desktop Optical drive.

Writing at that speed is not particularly reliable either. I write 48x speed discs at 24x all the time.

My audio CD burn speed "standard" is 8X. I do a lot of audio CD burning in my recording studio for clients. Anything above 8X and it will likely skip or not play in older audio CD players. This is not a problem on many newer consumer audio CD players but is an issue when you are selling them a concerts as you don't know what it will be played on. This is a major problem as almost all SATA burners will only go down to 16X.

If you are making MP3 CD's or data CD's this is not an issue.

Totally agree unless you want to go back into business of selling silver coasters.

When cd drives were the rage, sellers put effort into making media as reliable at high speeds as they could. I imagine sales of blank cds have plummed now and sellers just crank batches from a factory and no longer put any effort into making cds super reliable any more

Those high speed drives are all but useless, some even dangerous. Still remember one with Turbo button by Creative where disk literary blew up inside and wiped out most electronics inside.
Writing faster than 16x (CD) and 8x (DVD) produced unreliable copies.
