    Lost sound

Lost sound-snip-sound.pngMy Logitech S-220 speaker system was working fine with my Asus 2007 desktop with Win 10 until I moved to my son's house. At this time I allowed Microsoft to update Win 10; something about fall .I wonder if this lost the sound. Logitech forum was hopeless. If any one has a solution it would be much appreciated. I included the snip if it is useful. Thanks for any help Soddy

Hi, it sounds like you have received the upgrade to the latest Win 10 build, 1709, 'Fall Creator's Upgrade' or FCU.

You can check this by looking at your Update History, and latest build number - Windows key + R, winver.

There are a number of threads here about people losing sound after an upgrade. It doesn't happen to everyone.
    Some ideas:

No sound after Windows 10 Update 11/3/2017 Solved - Windows 10 Forums
Sound stopped working after Creative Update Solved - Windows 10 Forums

When you get such an upgrade, drivers are replaced.
Sometimes you need to change a setting, and in general, sometimes people need to use older drivers, not newer.
    E.g.

Feel free to search the forum for
"no sound" "no sound FCU" "no sound Fall" etc

Do you have sound via headphones?
Do the green bars move on that display you posted when you play sound?
    You can use this:

Assuming your speakers are connected by USB and have a driver (are they?) check your Device Manager shows they are present. You can try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.

    As my previous post:

Sometimes you need to change a setting, and in general, sometimes people need to use older drivers, not newer.

Suggest you try obtaining an older version of your driver.

Was there anything useful in the threads I posted?

Thanks for your patience. I right clicked on the VIA HD Audio Win 01 Speaker and this time I saw the green bars moving and pressing Test gave me strong sound. When I tried to play a YouTube video there was no sound. so the problem remains. How can I have sound in the test but not for tube. Thanks for your help

If you play an audio file on your PC does that work? E.g. using Windows media player or VLC player etc.

    Which browser are you using?

Rt click on your volume icon in the system tray, click Volume Mixer, check the volume control for that browser.

    Check the top setting here:

    Failing that research
    no sound from browser
    no sound playing youtube video

It's very easy if you have a proper start menu (I use Classic Shell (free).

In Win 10, e.g. Win key+ S, Control, click Control Panel, click Internet Options.

(there's probably a more direct way - but as I say, I don't have to bother messing about like that...!)

    Options

When I click Internet Options I get this snip, I tried all the top menu options. Under the advanced I found "allow active content to run on my compouter. I did not find the line you indicated just below Security. Is there another way to enable playing YouTube videos? Thanks

Play sounds in webpages (2nd down in my screenshot) is what you're looking for.

With your browser running, do you see a volume control for it as per screenshot in post #7?
