Getting back to the drivers in question, build 8018. After using them a lot through the last 24 hours I would recommend these to all Realtek HD Audio users. The sound quality is the best I've ever heard, my Wife who normally moans to me about the sound quality from music on my PC and asks why I'm listening to it when I've got a good sounding Hi-Fi downstairs asked me what I'd upgraded on my system :) Definitely keepers.

Where is that version? Windows Update? Just checked in Realtek's site and they still have R2.80 from 2th December 2016.

Hella-agreed! lol Just when you think they can't possibly do better, they do.

Seems they even smoothed out the Loudness EQ setting too, at least for music, I still have to check games where I need that.

You guys are the go-to for this. After 8018 (and before) I've always had these choices. Never changed from the default. Should I? Stereo/L-R with Bass Center floor box. Altec.

You might on rare occasions find programs or games with incompatibility with the higher ones, but... mostly, I don't see a reason not to. (Also, some receivers won't speaker-fill to fake surround above that.)

What Jgr9 said... Sometimes a game will not handle sound right above the 48k setting, though I would assume newer games would be fine. But even then, unless you have super high quality speakers, setting above 48k really doesn't improve the sound much IMO, but some may notice a difference. Don't know about headphones, though.

Just use it for a while on your normal settings TC and see what you think of the drivers. If OK then start tweaking :)

DooGie i was just trying to help him, his incessant nit picking just really upset me off. the sad part is there is a very easy solution to his issue but he's to stubborn to see it and I for one wont waste any more time on it
