They may wait until Realtek release a better build. I gave 7989 a go last night then this morning uninstalled it and went back to 7982. The sound using 7989 was not very good at all
i installed 7982_PG452_Win10_Win8.1_Win8_Win7_WHQL installer package, and i noticed the Software package not the driver is a higher version then older packages. when i installed the installation font was a different colour and it was 4.53 not 4.51

Hello, I have a problem with audio on my Dell Inspiron 5547 (win 10 pro 64)
So I've installed the latest drivers of Realtek Audio Manager for my windows and I can't use the microphone on my headphones it simply doesn't detect it, it only uses the laptop's mic but it's very quiet too.
It worked just fine (both the headphones and the mic on them) on my old Winsows 8.1
What could I do to solve the problem so I can switch from my laptop's mic to my headphones mic?
Also if it matters, I'm using the apple earbuds, the ones that came with iPhone 5
    Thank you!

Tony if you want build 7982 just go to the Microsoft Update Catalog. See the first post in this thread. Or click on this link Microsoft Update Catalog

The page opens up arranged like a spreadsheet. All the columns have a header, click on the one that says Last Updated and the latest driver will appear at the top of the column. This should be version 6.0.1.7982.

    Thanks for the info.
Personally I prefer to download from the MUC now we can't get access to the Realtek ftp server.
Installing from a cab file I wouldn't have noticed the changes that you did.

Yeah that's the thing, does the CAB file update the software package or just the driver?
Do you want me to install it, and send the screenshot if you like?

Installing either the .cab or how you've done it (via the setup.exe) will do the exact same thing. Everything is updated.
And yes, you are right about the package being 4.53.
