I've edited my original post. It's 32-bit and 64-bit. Still very large though. The addition of Dolby will increase the size but I wouldn't have thought by that much.
Yeah just tried it and it worked fine thanks,

Karen, just a wild shot here. Have you got the Speaker icon in your system tray? If you have right click it and select Open Volume Mixer. Have a look at the dropdown menu under Device and make sure the volume is up on everything.

Version 6.0.1.7977 is now available from the Microsoft Update Catalog. 64-bit and 32-bit.

Sort by Last Updated or Version.

I'm using HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC as a search term in the MUC. While it gives me many results (including 6.0.1.7977), it's based on the assumption that 10EC is the only vendor code Realtek uses for its HD Audio devices.

So now the big questions are:

-Does 7977 maintain the awesome audio improvement of 7968?
-And is the Dolby addition a new setting or tab?

    Thanks.

I didn't install the Dolby version from Softpedia as my soundchip is not Dolby compatible.
I have installed it from Microsoft Update Catalog and have mixed feelings about the sound. I doesn't seem to have the same level of detail as 7968 but is smoother sounding.
I'm not really sure as I've got a cold at the moment which is affecting my hearing.

    Hi,

My ears are telling me version 7968 is the better one so far.
I'm using my self designed valved electronics and BBC monitors so YMMV.
