Would make sense actually as the driver might need to be tailored slightly for different MB sound chips.
It does same thing even with exactly same CODEC chips.

Yeah true, you must just get a CP based on MB brand I suppose.

    Hello to everyone!
This is my first post and so I wanted to share the latest build available.

Build 7930 WHQL is now available from the Realtek ftp.

Hi everyone, I have an XPS-8700 and am wondering if I can install these drivers on my system? The latest update from Dell is a few years old so can my chipset make use, or is even compatible with these newer drivers?

Seems like you have Creative Sound Blaster® Recon3D PCIe Audio Sound Card, for sound as well as Realtek on board. Which one are you using ?

Hi CountMike, no Creative card on this machine so I'm using the Realtek sound option.

In that case you should be able to use drivers straight from Realtek but download drivers from Dell just in case something goes wrong.

@CountMike Thanks for helping out on this thread.
I'm away on holiday for a week so away from the PC. I managed to smuggle my Wife's laptop into my suitcase so I can stay in touch. Also brought along a USB key with Firefox Portable and my everyday FF profile on it.
She wasn't too impressed when she found out :)
