Thanks a million for the link rsdnn: I was able to grab and install the .exe file successfully, when I couldn't get Brink's .cab file to work for me using DISM /online /add-package... My previous driver was apparently a year out of date!
    Thanks again,

Another new build out from Realtek.

Update I've been listening to mp3s using Foobar for a couple of hours using these drivers and for me they are the best yet.

They work well on my X58A- with ALC 889 :)

but are HORRIBLE on X99A with ALC 1150 back to 7727 , might try 7882.....

*** Yes 7882 is ok on ALC1150 Chip

    Thanks Brink
However rsdnn deserves the thanks more than me as he first brought 6.0.1.7882 to our attention with his Realtek link.

In addition to audio levels that are a lot lower than what my ultrabook's speakers normally outputs, I no longer have audio in some applications, but only sometimes, despite my volume always being set to 100%. I'm well aware of how to check what an individual app's volume is, and it is always maxxed. This isn't a situation of "my PC won't boot because it isn't plugged in/has no battery", I've been working with PCs for over 25 years. Anyway, sometimes an application (mostly games) will have audio an at other times it wont. But this only happens when starting some games, if audio is present at start then it stays on. Nothing is cutting out or behaving intermittently. And while a certain game may not have audio, Windows always does. I can never predict when this will happen or for which games, sometimes audio works and sometimes not. This has happened when playing certain games like:

    Metal Gear Solid V
    Grand Theft Auto V
    Fallout 4
Certain DOSBox games like Doom, King's Quest V, Hexen, Heretic, etc)
    And a few others........

What could be causing this? Maybe I need to try a newer/another driver? Or maybe I should just install Windows 8.1 and see if it happens there.

I am booting 10 LTSB x64 in a VHD on a external USB3.0 drive, since my internal SSD is entirely Linux, and I'm mainly using Windows for games and other programs that won't run in Linux. This has never happened before.

Edit: And I don't have any 3rd party audio programs (like DFX audio enhancer) or other audio drivers that could interfere.
