You've posted some excellent stuff on the Realtek HD Drivers erpster4. However I still can't understand why you'd download a driver from Softpedia rather than the official Realtek ftp site, sorry but that choice just baffles me.

Basically, everything in that folder, you sure it's that big since it's C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Realtek folder we're talking about which should be just the link for the items in the start menu and not the actual files the link points to as those would be under C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio and C:\Program Files (x86)\Realtek. Can you do a screenshot of the folder first so we are talking about the same thing before wasting time sending the files should we not be talking about the same thing? Thanks!

Good for you, my downloads takes 10+ minutes as I'm still on a 6MBps/7868kbps ADSL connection with 8 static IPs. There are faster connections available but I lose all the other features until they get the 1GBps fiber optic connection in my neighborhood.

The driver battles only happened because of 7696 and I believe 7680 as those two drivers have no sound for whatever reason, those two drivers also has multiple versions available which were not the generic.

Also, while the driver on a Win10 x64 would install in C:\Program Files (x86)\Realtek\Audio, on my system even if I uninstall, deleted C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio, I would have a C:\Program FIles\Realtek\Audio folder that has the following structure:
Drivers folder which contain nothing but a ASUS.txt file with G74SX_1B33_RTKEQ02_RTKDRC02 as the content.
HDA folder with files all dated 12/31/2015: AERTSr64.exe, BlackSkinImages64.dll, DarkSkinImages64.dll,
FMAPP.dll, FMAPP.exe, RAVBg64.exe, RAVCpl64.exe, RtkNGUI64.exe, RtlUpd64.exe which I think is v7707.

Don't have Revo so no, I tried firing up the the registry cleaner that was part of Norton Utilities v16 before rebooting after the uninstall and that seemed to have fixed Windows from installing on bootup but that was before I did the System Restore so right now, the system basically doesn't even have the NU registry cleaner portion involved as I restored before that point. NU runs daily on it's own and backs up the registry before cleaning. What is strange is whatever fix I applied before the System Restore fixed the audio output but still remained after I restored to a point before the fix as it was not 100% broken, Skype's startup sound was there, just playing a .mp3 file in Groove Music did not have sound even though DFX Audio Enhancer shows the audio output signal visually.
