Before uninstalling the previous build I ran the Registry Cleaner module in CCleaner which found 2 entries to delete, both of these relating to files I'd previously deleted so I knew they were safe to delete.
Next I uninstalled the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver using Programs and Features. Rebooted then ran the Registry Cleaner again. It found 148 invalid entries all of which were related to Realtek HD Drivers. It just goes to show what I've hinted at in some previous posts, ie Realtek HD drivers don't uninstall cleanly.

Next ran the setup for build 7667, rebooted and all was fine. The Realtek HD Audio Manager was running in the tray and the sound was ok.

One warning though, if you don't know what a registry entry is referring to then don't mess with it.

Just curious, wouldn't running CCleaner's Register Cleaner after uninstalling serve the same purpose instead of running it before and after the install?

Yes it would but tonight I just wanted to see the number of invalid entries that uninstalling Realtek HD Audio drivers left ehind.

The Realtek uninstaller should get rid of these. Is it any wonder users have problems?

What this reminds me of was a few weeks ago, I went to the Central Computers store in San Francisco which is a pretty big reseller that sells everything. There was a asian lady there with a laptop talking to the tech and they were talking about uninstallers do not uninstall everything...

Hey, a while ago I started to get some noise when playing movies with AC3 audio tracks (spdif passthrough to my receiver). There's this background noise which appears now and then but mostly when there's low sound like in dialogues. Pretty annoying as you guess, been trying different settings for hours yet no difference, movies with DTS tracks works just fine. Could there be a problem with my audio driver?

Guys, I'm at my wit's end. I'm on 6.0.1.7667 and Windows 10 and my headphone jack still doesn't work, despite working just fine in Linux.

I ran CCleaner and removed all the registry entries it found.
I uninstalled the Realtek High Definition Audio in Add/Remove programs.
I uninstalled the Realtek High Definition Audio in Device Manager.
I ran CCleaner again and removed all the registry entries it found.

I restarted the computer.

I go into Device Manager and update my driver and point it to the folder for 6.0.1.7667.

Restart the computer.

Still no sound while using the headphone jack.

I'm on an Asus UX32VD.

Just returned from a few days away and checked the Realtek ftp server.
Build 7673 was released on 27/11/2015.

I used the above driver for around 5 hours today and found no problems. The sound was fine but was noticeably louder than previous recent releases.
The Audio Manager loads fine at startup, I know a few users have been having problems with this. Personally I never use the settings in this as I just find they destroy the natural sound I want.

Not an essential update but nothing wrong with them.
