Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [archive]

I manually update to version 6.0.1.7629, few hours later MS want to update the driver (no idea which version it proposes) but fails with the error "Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Audio Device, Other hardware - Realtek High Definition Audio - Error 0x8007010". The strange thing is I setup my Windows 10 to ignore automatically update the drivers.

Somebody must clear out the process. It is full of contradictions.

I wonder if Windows still thinks that R2.79 is the 'best' version for Windows 10 and is trying to go backwards, which the actual software won't allow. If MS puts something in their catalog they ought to tell the Windows 10 part of the company that the newest version has changed instead of continuing to try to push an old one.

I have another driver Asus Touchpad that ASUS specifically recommends for W10, if I let Windows "update" my diver it rolls back to much earlier version.

Also it messes with Intel's DPTF driver and the one proposes by MS does not work (it tells the driver fails and has a yellow triangle next to it).

That's why I disable the automatic driver update by MS. But why it still insists on updating the Realtek sound driver ?

So if someone in MS reading : please don't mess with user's computer drivers, and let users the choice to select the update.

Yes, I have an "update" waiting to the Realtek software. I have to figure out how to disable automatic driver updates!

    Thanks, doing that....
You're welcome, I had the problem after getting the Comulative Update when I run setup.exe, it uninstalls and reboots but on reboot, Windows installs the default drivers and Realtek's installer never shows up.

I always wondered how that worked since some people claim they can install updated drivers in device manager and it will grab the newest one but it seems on my system, for the Realtek, it will go back to the July 2015 version.

I never seen the update, probably because when I did the Uninstall in Programs & Features, it got rid of the Windows provided driver as a whole and then I installed the Realtek driver via setup.exe.

I think you probably have a corrupted notification icon as I had that problem with Throttlestop, the notification icon aka system tray won't show up until I did the following:
