Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [archive]

In fact, the last time I saw another audio icon that resembles a speaker (the Realtek one) other than the windows volume control was in Windows 7.

I got it to show but what I had to do was open up Realtek HD Audio Manager, click on the i which will bring up information and then clicked on display icon in notification area but it shows the same icon as I have seen in Windows 7, not the one that Dude posted.

Is your problem only with the notification tray one not working? What about the one in Control Panel and the one in Start Menu -> All Programs -> Realtek, do those work? If it's only the notification one not working, then it could just be your notification tray icon cache got corrupted as I asked about this one before as uninstalled apps will still show up in Start Menu -> Settings -> System -> Notifications & actions -> Select which icons appear on the taskbar.

In any case, as there was a new nVidia driver which messes up my browsers requiring a reboot, I decided to update to 7620 and ran the .exe installer which requires the usual uninstall, reboot and install and it appears the system tray icon is not there after install by default and I had to go to the i by running the Realtek HD Audio Manager from either Start Menu or Control Panel and clicked on the i to turn it on as mentioned earlier.

That would explain it because you guys have a better looking icon. LOL.

One thing I noticed is that in Realtek HD Audio Manager under Speakers, if I turned on Headphone Virtualization, the sound is distorted with static.

@Tonyb, I'm using Sennheiser PC300 G4ME Gaming Earbuds which are $170. What I do is put the volume at max on the computer and then use the volume control on the headset or the external speakers (AR (Acoustic Research) Powered Partners 570). Ofcourse I have the headset at max volume too since it seems like it doesn't generate much volume compared to portable devices.

For whatever reason, after a few reboots, however, the static is now gone when headphone virtualization is chosen. I tried to simulate someone's screenshot on the ASUS Republic of Gamers forums of how to do the a similar sound to THX TruStudio but not sure if I have it 100% correct as the equalizer doesn't show the exact setting in -+dB's and how the 500 setting is as I can't tell if it's in the middle or if it's adjusted.
