There is also a post on the Dell forum relating to this, post is concerning a Windows 8.1 installation but it sounds like the same problem you are having Andrei 10

Dell Inspiron 5521 Waves MaxxAudio driver missing - Audio - Laptop - Dell Community
Yeah well nothing from their posts from dell worked for me.
    Not even their drivers
Anyway i fixed my problem after "3 million" times of realtek driver installations and uninstallations.
I downloaded the driver from the realtek website (2.79) (not worked), i updated with the version 6.0.1.7773 from Microsoft Catalog (this fixed my problem). After this i installed the version 7796 from your post and is working.
Strange thing i installed windows 8.1 and after that directly installed version 7796 worked perfectly.
Anyway i like to keep my audio and video driver up to date. From the producer site are only outdated drivers. Now i will wait a new driver version from realtek website (2.80?? ).
    Thank you for help.

After upgrading to Windows 10 from 7 my Video sounds are not the same quality as before; muffled, noise spikes, etc., and I installed the latest, greatest Realtek drivers with no change. This problem only applies to Windows Media Player or any M$ product; however, the very same Video sounds great using RealPlayer. Hum........ Why is it that RealPlayer can get it right and M$ can't? Yeah, Win 10 upgrade is free, so maybe that's the problem?

That could be problem with codecs, RP, VLC etc. use their own codecs.
You can download newest codecs from here: Download Codecs Tools for Windows - MajorGeeks
Btw, everything works just fine here.

Well, that didn't work Downloaded suggested divers to no avail. Still get crummy sound in WMD. Will just use Real Player, even though the navigating is sometimes difficult. Some of the worst sounds came when I logged onto Real Player Cloud and ran the same video from there! It was awful. But, playing it from the PC Real Player it is fine. I'm thinking it is an Internet transfer problem. Real mystery. I downloaded several driver packages to no avail, even some old worn out XP files. As I age this stuff goes over my head.

I extracted the cabinet file, right clicked my Realtek HD Audio inf file (HDXSGMA4.inf) and chose install, but then a message pops up saying "The data is invalid." The same happens if I try to install this inf file via Device Manager, I get a message that the drivers could not be installed because they were invalid. Any idea on how to install it?

edit: nevermind, I'll just install the WHQL drivers posted by DooGie, way more simple.

And thats why I post the links.

I agree ksio89, CAB files can be a bit of a pain at times.

However with a cab file you are best placing in a temp directory then go to Device Manager/ Sound, Video and Game Controllers, expand that tree then right click on Realtek High Definition Audio and select Update driver Software. Next select Browse my computer for driver software. Direct it to where the cab file is and it sould install automatically.
