Thanks for the compliment midix, however the drivers I link to aren't unofficial drivers. They are official Realtek WHQL ones direct from the Realtek ftp servers, why the drivers on their homepage are very rarely updated is a mystery to me and quite a number of other members here as most of the drivers I link to are up on the Microsoft Update Catalog within a day or two.

Sorry I can't help with your sound issues as I've never experienced this type of problem myself so have never had to look into it.

Which is why it baffles me that if I update using one of these, Windows Update downgrades me to the last one that is officially on their website R2.79 2015/6/25. Why doesn't Windows Update know what's in its update catalog?? I am ok with the one I have other than that it randomly silences the system sounds once in awhile, and not just because I leave the computer idle, either - I can be doing all kinds of things on it and then find that the system sounds no longer are heard.

The answer to your first point is to disable driver updates from Microsoft. Read this tutorial by Brink. You need to scroll about halfway down the page for the part about driver updates.

Windows Update Automatic Updates - Enable or Disable in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

As for the silencing sounds once in a while then I'm not so sure that's a Realtek issue. I was watching a gaming video tonight with the sound through a Plantronics USB headset, I'd watched the same video around three times in the past with no problems. Part way through the sound disappeared then about 30 seconds later came back. There was no crackling or anything just no sound whatsoever. Could be a Windows 10 issue, I dunno but I'll keep an eye on it.

Interesting that this new release doesn't mention Windows 7 compatibility in the filename.

newest driver sounds good, but i still have the same issue with sudden soundspikes when i pause a video or play something new its x3 as loud as it should be, and i have to adjust the volume all the time.

Audio louder than usual until volume is changed - Windows 10 Forums

i have to use generic windows 10 drivers for it to work, but they dont sound as good as realtek.

    any advice ?

IMPORTANT NOTE to DooGie & Brink: Saw this in the Station drivers forum page about v7750:

    Note:
Windows 7 (are ?) is not supported.
    Only Win8, 8.1 & 10 users should install v7750. Vista & Win7 users should install v7745 instead as v7750 is non-supported (and non-WHQL) for Vista/Win7 OSes.

And note to shakennstirred: here's the direct 64bit link to v7750 from Microsoft (found from Softpedia drivers site).

Yes I knew that erpster but as it is the Windows 10 Forum I didn't think it worthy of note.

In hindsight perhaps I should have made the point that they aren't compatible with Windows 7.
