guys just a helpful note... or at least informative. I fight the driver battle with conexant audio on Windows 10.
MICROSOFT itself/themselves confirm that they have an issue in that NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO Win10 UPgrade will clobber your drivers. The entry in Advanced Properties simply does not work. I have posted on this around the forum, as late as last week one of the MS Windows 10 chat help desk people confirmed, reconfirmed, and firmed-up that it is a bug, they are working on it [forever] . Brink also acknowledges this as I posted on one of is tutorials. There is no way to prevent this at this time unless you're in a Domain where ALL policies are being set as Group Policies disallowing basically anything other than the standard IT dept-sanctioned yarnball.

it does slightly slow down the process if in Settings, UPdate, Advanced, you choose "Notify me to install". For whatever reason, the Dev Driver installs will halt there for a day or four waiting on you to authorize the install. ultimately it will do so anyway but at least you're aware if you're snooping.

this is how apple converts are made....

I installed 7701 WHQL which was posted earlier by @WIKIMACK but the post is now gone probably because it's a bad driver and here is my feedback...
Here is the link for the download and it appears to be a general release:
    ftp://spcust:hwwk758z@ftp3.realtek.c..._Win7_WHQL.zip

Ever since I installed 7696 WHQL, as mentioned in post #542 which had the problem with no sound which is the same case with 7701 WHQL, I'm experiencing a weird problem.

With 7696 WHQL installed and trying to go to 7695 WHQL, what happens is I run the setup.exe which does the uninstall. It restarts and the Realtek setup program runs again, I click Next and it uninstalls and restarts. Restart and basically it will uninstall and the same thing happens over and over until I click cancel when the setup program runs, and then click on finish. So I goto System Properties -> Hardware -> Device Installation Settings and have it on No. Reboot, run the setup.exe, it does the uninstall and restarts and ofcourse if I restart, the setup.exe basically Installshield Wizard if I click Next will do uninstalling and ask to restart. I restart and ofcourse next would uninstall and basically it would do the same thing until I click on cancel after rebooting. I check Program Features and the Realtek HD Sound drivers are not listed. So then I have to do what Count Mike mentions in post #557 by uninstalling in device manager but I don't reboot, run the setup.exe for 7695 once again and it installs, reboot and all is well.

Now going from 7695 to 7701 is the same problem.

Not sure how to fix this as it appears that Windows is keep reinstalling the default version of the drivers on it's own even when I have the System Properties -> Hardware -> Device Installation Settings and have it on No.

Also wanted to note that I couldn't System Restore either because even with 50GB, all the restore points were already after 7696 was installed.

Been lurking these last few days, trying to fix my audio problems. Havent been able to figure out whats wrong, its a headscratcher, Atleast with my limited understading <---- this might be the problem :).

So i turn to you , hoping you know of a solution.

    System:
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-x79-UD3 with Onboard Realtek audio

After updating to Windows 10, my microphone generates alot of static/distortion when played back via programs such as Teamspeak, skype and Ventrilo, and i've also tried Windows 10s own voice recorder to play back file recorded locally. Static.

Microphone do sound normal if i Playback directly from within "Realtek HD Audio Manager"
But if i go to windows --> Audio devices --> Recording devices --> Microphone properties.. and check the box "Listen to this device" the playback of my voice is heavily distorted, just as with skype and teamspeak.

Tried using the microphone on other PC - Worked fine
Tried using different microphone - Same Issue with distortion
Tried reinstalling Windows 7 - Microphone worked fine
Then installed Windows 10 again - Same issue distortion
Have toggled just about any setting related to sound and enhancements on and off.

Have tried uninstalling Realtek drivers and used windows 10 stock HD audio drivers.
Have tried installing latest 4 versions of Realtek drivers. (atleast i think its the latest 4) last version installed is 6.0.1.7701 (the one Almighty1 linked a few posts back).

Im not sure if its even the drivers and not windows since playback of voice works perfectly within Realtek HD Audio Manager. But whenever i listen to it through programs, and even within windows own microphone settings it gets distorted heavily.

I've seen other people on other forums having similar issues with Realtek onboard audio. but no solution anywhere.

Can this be an issue about Codecs? like with video playback, or is this even a thing in regards to microphones?

I hope anyone here have had the same issue and knows of a fix :)

Thanks you in advance, oh and have a happy new years :)

Thank you for the quick reply.

I checked and indeed, a connector from one of the speakers to the subwoofer was faulty.
    Sorry for the troublesome post.

    Cheers,
    Iulian
Use some isopropanol aka rubbing alcohol and clean the connectors... Better yet, use something like Caig Progold to enhance the connection.

My issue is it didn't happen until I got the 7696 driver which had no sound installed and it has been that way since.

First of all, Happy New Year 2016 and best wishes to everyone for 2016 and beyond!

I installed 7707 WHQL and got it working but it required some work.

I had 7695 WHQL installed, ran 7707 WHQL's setup.exe which did the uninstall, reboot, install which actually installed Realtek Sound Manager in the Start Menu except I couldn't get any sound other than the one in the Realtek Sound Manager and the Skype startup sound. Atleast this time the installing process worked correctly instead of doing the uninstall after rebooting in a loop. Both device manager and program and features shows 7707 as the install version.

I decided to try something else just to see what happens by running the 7707 WHQL's setup program again which did the uninstall, reboot and instead of installing, it did the uninstalling, reboot, uninstall, and basically kept doing the same thing over and over again until after reboot, I cancelled the installer and then went to Device Manager, did the uninstall there and checked the Delete the driver files for this device and it prompted to reboot, I said No and basically ran the 7707's setup.exe which uninstalled, rebooted and installed normally again, reboot except there was still no sound. There was no Realtek Sound Manager in the start menu. Both device manager and program and features shows 7707 as the version so I decide to try something else, I went to device manager and did a update driver and browsed to the Vista64 directory and had the subdirectories box checked and it actually installed instead of saying my Windows driver is up to date. Rebooted and there was sound.

At this point, I can run the 7707 setup.exe which will uninstall and install just fine except still no Realtek Sound Manager in the start menu. So I decided to try System Restore to the restore point that is the first installation of the Realtek HD Driver which was the right after the first uninstall of the Realtek HD Driver 7695 WHQL as it had the Realtek Sound Manager in the Start Menu. System Restore was successful so I rebooted and there was sound. I checked both Device Manager and Program and Features which actually listed 7571 as the driver installed instead of 7707. So I ran 7707's setup.exe, did the uninstall, reboot, install process, rebooted and there was sound, I tried to do the Update driver in Device Manager and it said the drivers are already up to date. So basically everything is working except the Realtek Sound Manager on the Start Menu is no where to be found while the one in Control Panel is working like usual. I'm pretty sure System Restore doesn't restore files in directories outside of C:\Windows and C:\Windows. I have a C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Realtek folder except it's empty with a date/timestamp of the first successful 7707 install so for anyone that installs 7707, do you actually have Realtek Audio Manager on the Start Menu and if you do, any change you can share the files in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Realtek folder?

There are 2 files there. One is 115.7 M and the other is 95.3 M. They both have the same name and ver number. Which one do you need or both?

Versions 7701 & 7707 can also be obtained from Softpedia drivers site.

I don't have any "driver battles" on Win10 as long as I use the Pro edition (not Core or Home edition) & latest version of Windows Update Minitool to disable automatic updates.
