Interesting, I've been using WinRAR for such a long time, way before 7-Zip came out so never really changed. Still remember using ARC and PKARC aka 1985. LOL

I still use both of those as well as ARJ and 7-Zip except I've been using WinRAR for everything including making Zip files. Before Windows, I used PKZIP (Phil Katz) which was actually created when SEA (System Enhancement Associates) who owned the ARC format sued Phil Katz for his PKARC. I think RAR and 7-Zip are basically the Russian archivers while everything else originated from the U.S.
Realtek have just released build 7695 of the HD drivers.

I'll give these a tryout later today.
What audio-chips are supported by this driver ? Does it work for the ALC 662 ?
I've been having an issue with my realtek sound so I gave this version and a few previous versions in this thread a try.
Unfortunately with all of them I now can't set my optical sound output to dolby digital 5.1 in windows or the realtek control panel :/
My chip is ALC889 on a gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 motherboard. Also I'm running win 10 x64 Does this driver not support me?
Edit: the driver version available on my motherboard website is 6.0.1.7553
this driver allows me to turn on dolby digital 5.1 / DDL however theres some glitching with sound levels on win 10

Version 6.0.1.7695 is now available from MS Update Catalog for 32bit & 64bit systems (if you want "direct links" for these just look for them on Softpedia Drivers "realtek sound card" section)
also, v6.0.1.7696 also available from Softpedia Drivers REALTEK Sound Card page (but not available from MS...at least not yet)
I was trying out Windows 10 v1511 (Threshold 2) on an old Hewlett-Packard A6110n desktop PC that I fixed almost 4 weeks ago by ordering an M2N68-LA Narra2 replacement board that uses onboard Realtek ALC888S HD audio chipset. Too bad the onboard Realtek HD audio hardware died a few days afterwards [yup, hardware malfunction - even if I set the onboard audio to either Auto or Enabled in the HP bios setup ]. everything else on the m2n68-la board still worked. Guess I'll have to buy a 3rd party PCIe sound card to get back the audio.
