Trying to install the 6.0.1.7647 and it wont install
says its not compatible with my system, even though I have the older 7644's installed
anyone know why its saying that?
Build 7647 is not a good build with myself and a few others having problems with it.

Give build 7654 a go and see if that will install ok.

Version 6.0.1.7654 WHQL from MS Update Catalog site for 32bit & 64bit Windows
WHQL for Windows from Vista to 10 (I've already updated to v7654)

Version 6.0.1.7655 from MS Update Catalog site for 64bit Windows 10 only (WHQL for Win10 only - NOT to be used on older Windows versions)

Direct download links for 7654 & 7655 are found on the Softpedia drivers page in the Realtek sound card drivers section.

And another thing: the Realtek HD Audio Manager control panel app NEVER works on Sony brand desktop/laptop computers. It runs on any supported onboard Realtek audio chipsets that are not found on Sony PCs like Acer/ASUS/Dell/HP/Lenovo/Toshiba.

Edit: v7647 is also available from ASRock (link 1) (link 2) (link 3) (link 4)

Just updated to 7655 from 7654. Unlike 7640 to 7644, this one did not ask to reboot and the loaded driver did update to 7655. However, the system tray icon for the Realtek Sound Manager and the Sound Manager settings including my custom equalizer settings reverted to defaults just like what happens when I do the setup.exe install or went from 7640 to 7644. Not sure how DooGie was able to get the settings for Sound Manager to stick when upgrading from device manager.

Sometimes they did stick, other times they didn't. You must bear in mind that I use very few of the features of Sound Manager. Sometimes none of them so the settings will stick as they are at default :)

True, now only wished I can figure out where it holds the saved equalizer profiles, hate having to use a piece of paper to compare the levels with a screenshot, it would have been better if they designed the equalizer with the -+dB's.

Almighty1 have you ever uninstalled the Realtek HD drivers, rebooted, then run the registry cleanear that comes with CCleaner?
There is so much rubbish left behind it's no wonder people have problems.

Nope, I have CCleaner installed though. I never had any problems, as I think Tonyb is the one who really has problems. My only problem is really downloading first and by the time I want to install, a new version is out so I end up installing that instead at the time when I feel like rebooting.

open realtek in the search box. if nothing works, uninstall realtek drivers in device manager. reboot. it works here. the realtek will be reinstalled.

Equalizer settings etc. This might be of some help: Realtek Equalizer Settings - Windows 7 Help Forums
