    Hi,

I apologize if this is the wrong place to post, but after reading the last 10 pages of this thread I think you guys may be able to directly answer my question:

Why does DTS 5.1 surround sound not work with windows 10?

I am forced to use only 2 channels. I even tried downloading the latest audio driver for my motherboard from the ASUS website and nothing changed.

Updates is trying to give me the latest Realtek Audio drivers, but I dont want it. Already have soundcard (SBZ). Disabled onboard audio in the bios and all audio devices other than my SBZ in device manager, yet still getting the realtek driver update. Anyway to stop it?

Are you sure it's for audio, most MBs with Realtek sound have also network chip of same make ?

I have updated every driver posted in this thread and I see no improvement in quality of sound, the GUI or anything. MSI's latest driver is 6.0.1.7599.

Yep, its for audio. Initially my onboard audio was enabled in bios, so was understandable to get the audio driver in update. After disabling it in bios, the update prompt stopped for a day or so but reappeared again today. I wonder if it left some script or instruction to continue offering the update after initial detection of the realtek audio device.

It's a Windows problem, Microsoft is testing the fix internally to release to Insider users. So, you can wait it to be fixed soon.

It's getting a bit unreal now.
Realtek today released yet another new WHQL driver, version 7628.

And there's a v7628 WHQL from Microsoft Update Catalog as well (4 entries of 7628 from there)
there's also a v7632 from MS Update Catalog but Microsoft goofed up on that one as the download link that reveals the 20784743.cab file download actually contains v7606 instead (do NOT link to 7632 Brink or you will be very sorry! Just link to v7628 instead as Microsoft got the v7628 packages correct but NOT the one for v7632 which MS packaged the 'wrong' version of the driver files)

    and here are the v7628 links for 32bit & 64bit non-IE users.

As Almighty1 posted earlier in this thread.

I really wish Realtek would include a changelog for all these releases.

I had that problem after doing the last Windows Cumulative update when I tried to update the drivers. I tried running the setup.exe from the latest downloaded drivers, it reboots except the installer never came back after reboot because Windows is updating the driver on it's own back to the July 2015 drivers. What I had to do that worked was right click start menu -> Program and Features and then uninstalled Realtek Audio drivers, do not reboot and then ran the setup.exe from the downloaded drivers and then reboot and it worked. Then I installed 7625 running setup.exe which uninstalled, reboot and the installer came up like normal.
