Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [archive]

  1.    15 Sep 2015 #191

I tried all this and it used to work. Then the whole thing would stop again and then I would have to do it all over. But the past few days this has not worked ... I need help.

At this point I am ready to give up on Windows 10 for good!

    Tip   Tip

    • You will need to have cookies enabled, check the accept box, click Next, and click on the High Definition Audio Codecs (Software) link before it will take you to the actual Realtek HD audio driver download page.
    • You can download a ZIP version or the EXE version of the driver.
    • When the driver installation is complete, you will need to set your audio settings again in the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the Control Panel (Classic View).
    • Some OEM computers will have a custom version of the Realtek HD Audio Manager with the OEM manufacturer's name included instead. For example it may be named "Acer [Realtek] HD Audio Manager" instead for the OEM Acer.

Yeah I've extracted them ever since the first time updating. I noticed if I tried to extract with WinRAR or 7-Zip they would show a warning or error (though they extract much quicker), so I decided to just open the .cab with the default Win10 explorer and copy all the files to a new folder. Then, I told device manager to look in the folder that held that .cab and the new folder as well as to include subfolders. Haven't had any problems doing it that way.

I am not that good at it. Can you give me a more step by step idea to follow?

So far Windows Update has not forced the cruddy Realtek audio driver despite all the constant updates. I hope it keeps up making my $99 speakers sound like a cheap $20 speakers unless I use the Dell equalizer which colorizes the sound and makes it worse. Maybe because the build in speakers on the Dell all in one are terrible to begin with. With expensive speakers you don't need no equalizer so the Microsoft HD Drivers are perfect.
