Thank you Erpster. First post updated. :)
And here's v7530 from Microsoft posted earlier today 6/12 - 64bit only
Two new Realtek HD Audio driver updates!
v6.0.1.7535 from Microsoft Update Catalog
v6.0.1.7541 [R2.79] from Realtek web site & Softpedia [x86] [x64]
I mention the Softpedia links to R2.79 in case downloading the newest release won't work from the Realtek site for some users
I've decided to mention this link to get the newest Realtek audio drivers from Microsoft (search keywords "realtek audio")
They've listed new versions 7540, 7543 & 7544 - I won't mention the direct download links for these since it's too much of a hassle for me and MS simultaneously released these 3 new realtek audio driver packages past noontime of 6/29/2015 pacific time. Btw, these downloads are x64 / 64bit only.
I'm not sure whether this is the appropriate place to ask this, but-
Are others having problems with Build 10158 and the Realtek HD audio drivers?
My speaker system offers fake quadrophonic capability. (2 audio inputs, but it's really 2.1 hardware.) If I switch the setup from the default (stereo) to quadrophonic, sound won't play. Switching back to stereo doesn't fix it, and I have to re-install the drivers to restore sound.
That happens with the drivers included in the 10158 installation, with the 2.79 drivers from realtek.com.tw, and with the latest drivers downloaded from the Windows Update archive (and installed as a driver update).
Another fact, maybe irrelevant: the upgrade path was Win 8.1 to Build 10074 to Build 10158. (I tried going from 10130, but it wouldn't detect the availability of 10158. That, with the patch installed that was supposed to fix that problem.)
I may try restoring 8.1 from an image and updating to 10158 using an .iso, but I'm not optimistic.
This is the first build that has given me any trouble with the Realtek drivers.
To reply to my own post:
I reverted to 8.1, and upgraded to 10158 using the .iso I generated form the .esd file.
The Realtek drivers are now at 175.41.
They seem to work with the quadrophonic setting.
I rejoice.
