Latest Realtek HD Audio Driver Version [archive]

Hi,

In some ways fdegrove I prefer installing from a cab file as the previous driver gets put into windows driver store so you can roll back to it if you don't like the new build.

And in "%windir% \Lastgood" as well.

On my "D:" partition I have a folder that contains all drivers on my machine which I obtain as follows:

From command prompt (Admin) :

Dism /online /export-driver /destination:D:\Drivers

or from Powershell Admin:

Code:

Export-WindowsDriver -Online -Destination D:\Drivers

That way I can roll back to whatever I like at any time I want to.

A listing of the drivers with the version of each driver is easy too:

pnputil -e > D:\Drivers\drivers.txt

Been listening for an hour or so and there's not much of a difference between 8004 and 8010. To me the bass seems a little more defined and instruments sound sightly more seperated from each other.
So nothing to make me say they're a big improvement but still worth trying.

However I was referring to a more basic approach. If i install Realtek drivers using setup.exe it not only uninstalls the current driver but also wipes all previous versions from the driver store, therefore nothing to rollback to in device manager.

Which is exactly why I suggested the command line code. You can change the folder path and store as many a version as you'd fancy in there.
Reinstating one of them is a simple matter of pointing the windows installer to the one you pick and that's it.
They can even reside on an external drive, network share, whatever.

Even after a couple of tracks I can definitely say that build 8004 outperforms build 8010.

Since you folks seem very familiar with the Realtek drivers, maybe you could help me out.

I have an Asus Z170-A motherboard with Realtek ALC892 on Windows 10 64-bit, with 5.1 speakers plugged in the back and headphones that I use via the front panel jacks. It used to be that I could have one volume setting for the Speakers and a different setting for the Headphones, and it would switch between them when I plugged / unplugged my headphones. The Speaker Configuration settings within the Realtek HD Audio Manager would also switch from 5.1 Speaker to Headphones.

Since an update few weeks ago, when I plug in my headphones via the front jack it detects them but the settings in Realtek HD Audio Manager stay on 5.1 Speaker and the volume stays at the speaker setting. I updated the driver to 6.0.1.8004 and the automatic toggle between Speaker volume and a Headphone volume is still missing and the setting never changes to the Headphone configuration.

Is there something wrong with my hardware / software, or did they seriously take out the headphone settings toggle in a recent driver revision?

Well, I remember there was a setting that you could change the mixer. You could either have a main mixer for all playback devices or a separate mixer, but I cannot find it right now. Anyone else? The default is a main mixer, so when you adjust the front speakers volume you also affect the headphones volume. With the separate setting you can adjust them independently. Shame I cannot find how you do it... Sorry...

right click windows volume icon not the realtek one click open volume mixer and you can adjust it individually from there just don't touch the master volume one that will move all them. the master volume is the one that says speakers on it leave that one alone.
